All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood (Review by Erin Woodward)

Rating: 5/5*

Incredible book alert. Yes, another. Yawn. Is it getting boring yet? Recently I’ve been meeting with a lot of publishers and they have been giving me their absolute favorite books – which is sort of amazing.

So All The Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood is just that, Ugly and Wonderful all at the same time. An epic love story about a very young girl, completely neglected by her drug/alcohol addicted parents and raised by a family friend, a very unlikely leading male character who you spend half the book undecided if you love him or hate him. It’s a very unusual relationship but leads you cautiously down a road where you realize family is no longer defined by traditional roles and in some circumstances, love, even born of darkness is a true gift.

Another true page turner as Greenwood takes her reader on an emotional bungee jump that requires you to decide for yourself what you can and can not accept given the grimmest of circumstances.
