Black Sheep by Meghan March (Review by Stephanie Smith)

2 min read

This book was released July 2, 2019. I received the audio version of this book and it was a quick listen at 6.5 hours.   It is the first book in the Dirty Mafia Duet by Meghan March.  “White Knight” is the   2nd book  in the Dirty Mafia Duet and looks like it should be available on Oct 1, 2019. It is also available for preorder on Amazon.

Cannon Freeman is the illegitimate child of  mobster Dominic Casso. Cannon is the “black sheep” of the family.  The lead question the reader and heroine want to know is if Cannon is running a legal business or is he as dirty as the rest of his family.

Drew Carson (Memphis) is the new waitress at the club and quickly catches  Cannon’s interest.  However, the reader quickly realizes that Drew is an Investigative reporter looking for some retaliation and answers.

Will Cannon let his  belief that he owes everything to a father that won’t even admit that Cannon is his son? Or will he do anything to protect the love of his life? Or will he be the one to be on the receiving end of the bullet? Will the reader even know the answers to these questions by the end of this book (by the way the answer is no).

Is this book a soul searching, gut wrenching, life changing book, well no, but it is a nail-biting romance. It’s hot and sexy. I loved this book and had it finished within 24 hours.  Despite being a spicy story, it has a solid storyline and you quickly fall in love with the hero and heroine and hope everything works out for them.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick read/listen and a fiery romance. The worst part for me was not realizing this was part of a duo and the book ended at a very suspenseful moment with no closure.

Now I have to wait for the second book!  I guess in the meantime, I will have to enjoy more of Meghan March’s books. This book was the first one of hers I’ve read but can’t wait to read more.  I give this book a 5 out of 5 for a steamy romance. It was amazing for what it was supposed to be. I will warn that this book does contain “adult language” and content.
