Let me start by saying how much I enjoyed this book by Leslie Cohen. I couldn’t put this down and found myself still thinking about it once finished. At its core, it’s a story of two young people in NYC but it is so much more than just a romance or love story and I believe that is the exact reason why I enjoyed it so much.
Meet Ben and Eve who are not an example of love at first sight, or even love at second or third sight, which I feel makes this story much more relatable and realistic. They are both in NYC and we see their lives, or should I say their 20’s, pass as we are a witness to their ups and downs, mistakes and triumphs, and feel their various heartbreaks. I love these characters because of how realistic they were. They don’t have it all together but what 20 something does? They are working on navigating life and love in NYC, which is something that many people can relate to.
I could say that maybe one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much is due to being a “20-something” year old living in NYC myself, but I really feel that there were many more reasons this book was so amazing other than just how I related to it. This was a real, modern, and entirely believable love story for all to enjoy. If this review didn’t sway you, take this line that is on the back of the book to summarize this story; “This is the classic tale of boy meets girl: girl…goes home with someone else”.
