Rating this book wasn’t very easy. I liked it – and it certainly kept me captivated but half the time I was beyond belief. I couldn’t figure out where the story was going and I was annoyed by the uncertainty. Maybe this speaks to Dakin’s talent as an author crafting a story that was so unbelievable but kept you hooked.
Run Hide Repeat is the memoir of a Pauline Dakin, a journalist who has lived all across Canada. Her entire life was just plain odd. Her mother moved the family across the country many times without explanation – seemingly to escape some mysterious imminent danger and threat. When Pauline turned 22 everything was explained to her – but the truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and the story she heard was way beyond anything she could have anticipated. As the intricately woven story began to show weakness Pauline has to question those she loves most.
I am a memoir junkie but I often find the stories to be one in the same – this is unlike anything I’ve ever read! Pick up a copy.
