Of all the places you don’t expect to see an ex-boyfriend, your best friend’s pre-wedding party is probably at the top of that list. You’re the maid of honor . . . and they are a groomsman?! What is happening? Isn’t this the kind of thing that you would know ahead of time?

“Talk Bookish to Me” follows Kara Sullivan and her ex, Ryan Thompson, as their worlds collide for a week leading up to a wedding celebration. Kara is a bestselling romance novelist with several novels published and a looming deadline for her next book. The book advance has already been spent, and she hasn’t written a single word. Panic is starting to set in; time is running out. Plus, she’s got this wedding to focus on.

Kara doesn’t have the time for Ryan, her college love that left her devastated and maybe a bit broken. But, after spending an evening with Ryan, she’s suddenly feeling inspired to write. His presence makes the words flow for Kara. Now she must find more ways to spend time with him, while keeping it casual. Balancing the needs of her novel with her own, Kara is dancing a delicate tango. However, she decides to further complicate things by letting Ryan and his precious pup temporarily crash with her when his accommodations fall through.

This debut novel from Kate Bromley sets a high bar! This is one of the first books I finished this year, and I was instantly smitten. A charming, easy read that will keep you entertained. It’s light and fun with a few surprises. As we can all use more light and love in our lives, this book will not disappoint.
