Author Steve Goble is back with another Spider John mystery novel. After writing his first novel, known as The Bloody Black Flag, comes his second, The Devil’s Wind. No worries if you haven’t read the first book; I haven’t either. To my knowledge, this is a stand alone novel with a new mystery for Spider John to solve.
Before picking up this read, you first have to ask yourself, “Do you want to go on an adventure and solve a murder mystery along the way?” My response is, “Who wouldn’t?”
The main character Spider John wants one thing and one thing only and that is to escape the pirate life and return home. His opportunity aboard the ship Redemption turned sideways though when the Captain is found murdered in his cabin. The question is, “ Was it suicide or murder?” Spider John, along with his friends Hob Odin, starts an investigation. But this is not the only thing that goes awry on this journey. As Spider John will soon find out, the ship has taken a turn for the worse. As the ship Redemption pulls away from the protection of the convoy, Spider John questions why they are headed straight into pirate waters.
If you are a person who likes to predict what happens in a book, I dare you to try and get it right with this mystery. Twists and turns are commonplace, and you won’t find out until the very end!
Will Spider John ever escape the life of a pirate or will he finally make it home?
I am writing to share an update on behalf of all of us at The Girly Book Club as we manage COVID-19. As we all know, the events of the past days and weeks have been unprecedented and our team continues to monitor and navigate this rapidly changing situation with the rest of the world.
At the GBC, we care deeply about doing what we can to keep our people and communities well – we are grounded in this intention, which makes difficult choices a little easier to make.
As a result, we have cancelled ALL of our global in-person monthly meetings for March. As a result, we will be holding a GLOBAL GBC Book Club, which we hope will appeal to our members far and wide (more info below.)
We’ll be honoring all tickets sold for March meetings and transferring them to April’s meetings or you can request a refund if you’d prefer.
